I am so glad you signed up for this class and am very much looking forward to our time together. There are two things I’d like you to do in advance of the class:

  1. Please complete this survey about your availability for synchronous class session times by June 5, 2020.
  2. Add you preferred mailing address to the first tab of our class google sheet. See your email for the link.

Class meeting format / dates

This class runs from June 8th – July 15th. Our entire class (15 students, as of 6/1/20) will have three synchronous sessions: June 8, June 16, and July 15. The time of our synchronous sessions will be determined by your answers to the survey I asked you to complete (above). The class will also be split into small groups for the purpose of critiques. Those groups will meet synchronously once a week, at a time convenient for the group, the weeks of June 22, June 29, and July 6. The remainder of class is asynchronous and you will work independently.

Tools / Technology

Our synchronous class sessions will take place via Zoom. I will send links and confirm meeting times via email. I will use the email address that you list as your preferred address in the class google sheet.

This website (https://k12bookarts.wordpress.com) is our main landing page and working space. I will not be using Millersville’s course management system (D2L) for this course.

I have used WordPress quite a bit, but it’s been a few years since I’ve tried to use it as home base for a class. WordPress has added new features that I am still learning. If you come across anything that doesn’t seem to be working, annoying quirks, or missing content, let me know ASAP. It’s also important that if you are attempting to do something on the site and run into a snafu, please do a little research to see if you could figure out what is going on. If you can’t, send me an email and I will pretend I know what I’m doing.
